Square Two

Living here at Lake Tahoe, mountain imagery is everywhere. I've been kicking this idea around for a while, and the blog was a perfect opportunity to try it out:

I hope you can make out the lake in the bottom half, and the mountains above! The foreground in soft browns and greens recalls the mountain meadows that reach the lake's edge.

In keeping with my and Dustin's penchant for classical themes, I've named this one 'Tahoe-lympus', forgive the pun!

This square is made with size 11 Delica beads, edged with size 15 rocailles.
The basic Warped Square threadpath can be found on our new site: BeadBlogShop.

Flashy (felt) Friday

It's Flashy Friday!

Or should I say, 'Fly-day?  Anyway, we're all about felt around here these days, not just Warped Squares!

This week we have been working up these adorable cyclops dragonflies, creating felt bezels around beautiful lampworked glass eyes from artist Wayne Robbins.
Dustin's is the most dragon-ey. No surprise there!

We are developing a classes around these and more exciting projects.
Subscribe to the blog and/or FB page to keep up with class announcements!

Square One

Here it is! Thank you for joining us.

Dustin designed this dynamite square spiral for our first Warped Square Wednesday.

Notice the transition from red to black, and how he drew out the last black edge to make it a proper spiral. The colors come from our Arachne kit (apropos for this labyrinthine design), and we have a couple of those available in the Shop.

The basic threadpath for the Warped Square can always be viewed Here.
For the drawn out edge, you'll need to work the last four rows flat, either turning around at the edge or weaving through to position the needle.

You've found us!

Thank you for joining us at Warped Square Wednesday, where Kim Van Antwerp and Dustin Wedekind will share a new Warped Square pattern on, you guessed it, Wednesdays!

We'll occasionally have beads on hand to create kits for our patterns, and they'll be available in our BeadBlogShop. Already in the shop are our Warped Square Packets of earring patterns. The 2017 edition features the Squares you see above.

Visit the shop and check them out.

If you're not familiar with Warped Squares, you can also visit the Threadpath Page at the Shop. This classic shape has been made popular by the Contemporary Geometric Beadwork project, in which Kim and Dustin have participated.

We'll be posting our first square tomorrow, June 21, so start following the blog today and join the fun!

We can also be found on Instagram and Facebook!
